Sylvia Kantaris

Sylvia Kantaris (1936 – 2021) was a British-Australian poet who spent much of her life in Cornwall. She published seven poetry collections, of which the most recent is Lad’s Love (Bloodaxe, 1993). In 1986 she was appointed Cornwall’s first Writer in the Community. As well as writing poetry, she taught for the Open University and for the University of Exeter and had a special interest in French Surrealism.
