MacNeice, Louis
Louis MacNeice (1907-1963) was a poet and playwright born in Belfast and a contemporary of W H Auden and Stephen Spender. He became a lecturer of Classics in 1941, after which he worked for several years as a producer for the BBC. He was awarded a CBE in 1958.
