Candlestick Press
Candlestick Press is a small, independent publisher based in Nottingham. Since 2008 we have been publishing poetry pamphlets aimed equally at people familiar with poetry and those who are not.
Our pamphlets make an ideal alternative to a mainstream greetings card. They have matching envelopes and bookmarks left blank for your message and are excellent companions on boring journeys or good for a bedtime read.

We publish pamphlets because we love their historical associations with literature, politics, philosophy, radical thought and social welfare. They are the real thing – short, thoughtful and to the point.
By supporting us, you will be helping a small, independent press at the same time as treating yourselves, your friends and family to some wonderful poems.
Green Poetry

Good poetry is ‘green’ by definition – made to last and can be transported by word of mouth. But over and above the fact that we hope people will give each other poetry pamphlets for keeping rather than greetings cards for binning, we do everything in our power to boost our local economy and minimize the shoe-size of our carbon footprint.
For example, our printers and all our suppliers are local, the cellophane sleeves we use are biodegradable and we only use FSC accredited material for our pamphlets.
The Candlestick Press display boxes some bookshops use are likewise made from 70% recycled material and are 100% recyclable themselves. We aren’t particularly interested in being goody-two-shoes and ticking boxes, so much as genuinely wanting to minimize any adverse impact we might have while pursuing our ambition to get the ultimate sustainable art form, poetry, working its magic in the world.
